My New Normal: Surviving Suicide Loss

Beginning a discussion on suicide is the key to ending the stigma associated with it. We turn a blind eye to this taboo topic until someone we know suffers from suicidal thoughts or takes their own life. Survivors of suicide loss are, sadly, a growing group of individuals. After searching online, I noticed a distinct lack of memoirs from young adult and children survivors. I decided to change that.

My New Normal: Surviving Suicide Loss was written soon after I lost my dad to suicide in order to remember all the emotions and experiences I went through while they were still so vivid, painful, and real. I wanted to share my story to show others who are in my position that they are not alone, to publish a personal account of a young adult survivor, and to spread awareness on the dangers of a hidden illness.
